3 Projects in 3 Years

Today, I celebrate 3 years of home ownership! For most people this isn’t a big deal, but for me it is. Being a self-employed, single mom didn’t afford me the opportunity to own a home for a very long time. Thankfully, I had a great rental house, in a great neighborhood that I was able to live in for 10 years until I bought it. YES, I purchased my rental home! You can read more about that in a previous blog post.

In those 3 years, I’ve tackled 3 major remodeling projects. My guest bathroom, my kitchen with the main living areas and finally my master bathroom. The only way I was able to do all of this (without hiring a general contractor) was because I followed the detailed process I developed for my clients at Jennifer Taylor Design.

  • Plan the Design

  • Establish a Budget

  • Make the Selections

  • Schedule the Contractors

I am excited to be able to teach this process to EVERYONE through my online course “How to Renovate Your Bathroom Like a Pro”. Seriously, it’s not hard to understand the steps that ultimately saves you so much money and time.

My first project was the guest bathroom. I was able to really stretch my budget by keeping the tub and tile surround, as well as finding a beautiful cabinet at Home Depot for less than $1000. I love how much personality the wallpaper added and I really love I was able to get all the work done for less than $5,000.

A year later, the next project started. It was a much bigger (and more expensive) one. In addition to remodeling the kitchen, I replaced all the flooring in the main living areas, gave my fireplace a much needed facelift, added custom built-ins and added some personality to my laundry room.

Another year later, it was time to tackle my master bathroom. The overall layout stayed the same, but I did add a soaking tub. I look forward to starting and ending each day in this room. It really brings me a lot of joy!

I am truly blessed to have a home that is truly a reflection of me. It took some work and a lot of money, but it was totally worth it.

Thanks for Reading!
Jennifer
