Rushwood {take one}
It has been a while since I have shared a new project with you, and I’m excited to introduce you to our Rushwood renovation. I love a challenge and this one is bringing it. This home sits on five beautiful acres and was built in the 1950s. Every wall is solid concrete, which will make this renovation incredibly challenging. It’s a full gut job along with a larger kitchen and master bathroom. I’m working with Tharpe Construction and can’t wait to see this home completely transformed.
When I came on board, the contractor was already selected and the plans were drawn. Thankfully, I still had time to improve the layout of the master bathroom. I was able to create a larger shower by moving the laundry access to the closet. That did reduce the closet storage, so we removed one of the sinks and added a tall cabinet for linens. In the laundry room, we changed from a side by side washer and dryer to a stackable set. This gave us room for a sink and more counter space, which will make everyday living much easier.
Here is a mood board that shows the direction for finishes. We are bringing color into the kitchen with blue cabinets. The guest bath will have a green and white mosaic tile with brass accents in the lighting. In the tiny powder bath, I am layering in a fun patterned tile. I love giving small spaces some big personality, so this one will not be boring.
Here are a few photos right after demo. The first shows the future master bath, the second is the guest bath and the last is the new kitchen space. Once framing is complete, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC will begin, and then we will start closing up these walls. I will share what the contractor has planned for all that concrete in my next update. Stay tuned.
